A commission is made toward a place, a scale, and a feeling, with the same freedom of hand as anything else in the studio.
Clients who want an existing painting repeated are better served by acquiring an available work. A commission begins with the conditions and feeling of the new piece, then allows the work to become its own object.
Conversation
We discuss the space, the scale, the light it will live in, and what the work needs to carry. No cost, no obligation.
Proposal & Deposit
You receive a written proposal covering scale, medium, palette direction, timeline, and price. A 50% deposit is required upon acceptance of the commission proposal to secure the project.
Studio Progress
The work is made with direction established at the outset. The collector will receive a midway progress image before the artwork is framed, providing a look at the piece as it develops in the studio.
Placement
On completion you receive full documentation. The balance is due before dispatch. The frame is built to the finished painting.
Investment
Original commissions begin at $1,000.
Timeline
Completion time varies depending on the client's needs, the scale of the artwork, and the number of works commissioned. Shipping time is not included in the estimated production timeline.
Scale
Commissions can range from intimate 8" × 8" works to large scale pieces up to approximately 10' × 4'5".
Framing
For framed originals, the frame is built to the finished work in the studio and becomes part of the completed object.

The making of the work continues through stretching, framing, blackening, copper leaf, and the final documentation of the piece.
